Well, finally got to fly in Royal Laurel, and very surprised to be disappointed. On this flight I was travelling with a companion and the isolated "half-pod" arrangement for the seats really limits easy interaction with anyone sat next to you, or near to you. I know EVA have made a big fuss about the lie-flat seats, but the seat is very narrow and you feel very restricted and cramped. I couldn't get comfortable.

Plus points for RL: I liked the bigger IFE screen and the spiffy new amenity pack. Also the IFE menu system is simpler and superior to PL. The service, always a good point for EVA, was equal or superior to PL, so no complaints there.

I note that other airlines are refitting their business class cabins with variations on the new pod seating arrangement, and if you're travelling alone its okay. But it's unsatisfactory if you're travelling in a party. For me, I prefer the old PL cabin - the seats were bigger (though not lie-flat), there is more elbow room, and the cabin feels more open and spacious.
