Some thoughts on the DT Morrison.
Had a stay last month and between us there were 4 rooms, one diamond and three gold, all booked as AXONs. Occupants of two rooms arrived at 1 pm one day and the occupants of the second two rooms arrived at 7 am the next morning. Diamond checked in for all four rooms so late arrivers could just show up and take a quick nap after transatlantic flight. No problem. Asked about upgrades. Told, well you all have been upgraded to deluxe rooms but we hold the very best rooms for paying customers and those are sold out.
Got to rooms, nice enough, modern, 2 bottles of water (replenished every day) and a welcome snack of some cookies and a piece of fruit or two. The views left a lot to be desired - asked for water view for at least one of the four - but nope. We had a view of an abandoned mission meeting house. Ah well, we only slept in the room and were not there long over our four night stay.
Front desk staff were very friendly. In general conversation with the desk, I mentioned we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and clerk immediately said I will send up some champagne. I said that was nice but my wife was out for a walk. They said when she comes back and off I went not really worried about the champagne. My wife came back an hour later and five minutes after that, a knock on the door and champagne and another round of snacks were delivered. Very nice touch and no one had reminded them of their offer.
Breakfast was very good, as previously reported and the buffet was more than sufficient. Golds and Diamonds get full buffet with plenty of choices, at least they did in July, but Diamonds also get the 1000 points Myway. Golds get choice of points OR breakfast. You can order from several items off menu too. Ordered eggs benedict one day. Sounded good in theory but the hollandaise left a bit to be desired. Just didn't order it again. No big deal.
Did not eat in the hotel as restaurant looked quite expensive but they were offering 1000 points for a meal and had some percent off coupons iirc. Had it been only two of us, not 10, it might have worked.
Wifi was good throughout hotel. The elevators were a bit of a pain as you needed to swipe your room key to get it moving. Would stay again in a heartbeat. The location is excellent for tourist stuff.
