I usually loathe having an empty seat beside me because no conversation/networking, but the one upside is I can watch a movie on my screen and tune the IFE beside me to the flight map. I've always thought that AC should add some UA style overhead tvs that show the flight map, especially in J on pod flights. This would also avoid having to open IFE screen for safety video which is an annoyance albeit a small one. The main point though would be so you can know how far away from your destination you are at all times.
