The only legitimate reason I can think of is if the Captain had notified the crew that there would be strong turbulence during the approach that would prevent further cabin service. But usually when it happens, the Captain advises everybody over the PA, so pax would know about it as well.
It was a smooth flight up to the landing announcement. No other announcements of "FA's take your seats" or such. It was probably just atypical service by an overeager FA.
