Alright, my attempt of food critic… I know this can be a mistake…

I like Japanese style curry and I had CoCo curry before. As I listed previously Japanese curry is on my must list when I am in Japan. Now there is CoCo curry in Los Angeles area, my old home town. Curry House has been around Los Angeles for very long time.

I think there is nothing wrong with CoCo curry, I like them and I will not tell people to go elsewhere. Curry is everywhere in Japan that you have millions of choices when it comes to curry in Japan.

Thing I have about CoCo curry, least the restaurant I have been and since it is a chain restaurant I am assuming curry is cooked same at all CoCo restaurants.

What I gathered is that CoCo has different base curry sauce made, various spiciness. When toppings are ordered, toppings are cooked separately and at the end toppings are placed over curry sauce on the plate.

Gospel of “Japanese Curry According to AlwaysAisle” is that toppings should be cooked in curry sauce. By doing that toppings will have curry flavor. If it is vegetable toppings then vegetables should be cooked in curry sauce simmered so that vegetables has curry flavor. Same as meat toppings. When I had curry at CoCo, toppings were fine but it was not part of curry sauce. It was like I was having curry rice along with those toppings on the side. Toppings were not harmonized as a part of curry rice.
