Update: indeed one needs a full-fare ticket in Y or B (aka tap|plus in TAP speak), at least if you're thinking of using *A SAS miles to upgrade. I mistakenly thought the tap|classic description 'Miles upgrade' meant miles upgrade, but apparently not -- it is only applicable for TAP loyalty programs and not the *A ones. Furthermore it is not possible to transfer *A points between programs, so signing up for TAP program does not get me closer.

Purchasing Y/B instead of Q was approximately 2x the price for the CHANCE of a *A SAS points upgrade. No go for me. A clean Z ticket was 3x the price tag compared to Q.

I'll try working the check-in ladies, but my guess is they will not help me. I have a gazillion EB Points but they are mostly earned through (points on) credit card purchases.
