I haven't seen what's happening in the renovations yet, but I don't think they would put you in a room that was currently being renovated. You might get a room that has already been done.

I'm not sure what your Rewards status is, but if you're Platinum, for example, you might be able to snag an upgrade if you stay with the hotel. You won't likely get an upgrade on the Beach Club side. You generally get what you book.

The garden views won't be quite as good as the ocean view of course, but the last time I used points to stay at the Beach Club, they assigned us an oceanview villa on a low floor with no real view. They generally save the higher floors for owners.

If I were you, i might take a chance on the hotel side if you're lucky enough to get a suite, they are very nice Whatever you decide, I think you'll enjoy the resort. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is huge.

Be sure to try a slice of Hula Pie at Duke's.
