May I butt in regarding camera supplies? Sorry this may be totally unhelpful- but I just discovered recently that pawn shops are selling camera & supplies at giveaway prices. This applies to all pawn shops I have been to recently. I found high end telephoto lenses going for ridiculous price of 15$- all carelessly tossed in cardboard boxes- these are going for $110/225 on eBay. Apparently they get a lot of camera stuff but are only interested in digital stuff now- of course this "tip" only applies if you're analog like myself. I've completely given up on camera stores and concentrate on pawn/thrift stores for my camera supplies and cameras- they could easily sell their items on eBay for much more but these pawns want to move merchandise, from what I was told after I addressed to them that they are selling their lenses and equipment way too cheap. Which pawn shop? Any! If you haven't been to one lately they are a gold mine for camera stuff. They don't care about how they could sell the pieces for more online. They just want their shelves emptied.
Re: camera stuff- Keeble Shuchat keeps all their stuff under the counter behind glass so you have to keep asking to "may I see that" all the time- and they are expensive. I heard they are rude but I don't believe it's true.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/san-jose-cam...by=rating_desc I just did a yelp search for "camera store" location Silicon Valley/San Jose
for San Francisco proper there is:
"Camera Heaven" who does cheap repairs but it's work to find the place and it's in Tenderloin district - driving in SF is HORRIBLE
