YOu can use GE then exit if just carry on, thus bypassing the customs line nad second check. They have a similar line for the one stop processing for regular travellers with just carry on bags letting one skip the second line.

From what I have read here ORD should be similar as the second airport to have that setup.

The GE kiosk cannot be used in conjunction with the 1-Stop immigration line at ORD. If one wants to use the kiosk, one must enter the baggage hall and pass through customs inspection at exit.
