The miles calculator tells me that MXP-DXB is 25k and then DXB-MEL is 45k, but the whole trip 62.5k. I already upgraded the DXB-MEL leg, as soon as it became available, but the MXP-DXB is still not and we are flying on the 13th of August. So, I guess, if I can upgrade, I can upgrade only at the airport, I'm I right? but it will cost me 25k?
If you call EK and get a helpful agent , they can cancel the initial upgrade that you did and then upgrade both sectors at the same time(saving you miles) if upgrades are available.
For airport upgrades you have to use the miles needed for that sector AFAIK.
I have done this 5 or 6 times as the upgrade avaialbility on both sectors may not be available at the same time.
