Pronto (bakery in the morning, pasta place from afternoon into evening) features rolls labeled as "cod roe with extra mayonnaise." I have not had the courage to try them. I stick to more predictable varieties such as raisin or apple when I have my morning coffee there.

About 25 years ago now, I was wandering in the arcades under Tokyo Station when I happened upon a pizzeria that served not only the usual Japanese variations on pizza (seafood and seaweed toppings) but also fried egg and raisin pizzas. I had just eaten lunch, so I didn't venture in there, and on my next trip, the adventurous pizzeria was nowhere to be found. I should have at least taken a picture of the window display.

I am also always on the lookout for unusual soft drink ephemera in vending machines, such as cardamom soda and sparkling plum wine.
