As stated, 2.5% is for one month only, otherwise it is 1.25% cash back. So £35k spent averaged over 12 months would be just under £500 cash back.
Still just around enough to pay for the YQ on a shorter longhaul sector!

Surely you would not object to saving money?! The point is that frequent flyers can, rather than earning Avios through directing flight spend onto a BA Amex, can earn cash on the Amex Plat and Avios from their flights, combining the two to earn a genuinely free reward flight.
