If they want to double the revenue, they could start by not giving away GE with NEXUS. If you apply for NEXUS first ($50 only), like I did, you get GE free. From what I have heard, CBP tried to raise the NEXUS fee when GE was introduced. Since NEXUS is a joint U.S.-Canada program, this change required the consent of the Canadian government. The Canadian government, anxious to keep the program affordable for Canadians, refused CBP's request to raise the price, so NEXUS remained at $50.
