Sorry, I meant: why close them? I currently have 5 Citi AA personal cards open, and each time I open a new one I have them move credit from a now-dormant card leaving it with only 1 or 2K credit. Citi may change their policy at some point, but there isn't much of a compelling reason or benefit to closing a Citi card.

At one point a couple years ago, I was rejected on a Citi app for "having too many Citi credit cards". They added all of their products up, even citi-managed gas/store card accounts (Goodyear, Phillipps 66, Hilton, etc) and it was like 8 at the time. So I closed some of them, they were never used and had decreased low CLs anyway from lack of use. I don't worry about average account age, I'm an old fart.
