When I lost luggage with LAN they told me that all lost luggage goes back to SCL and I got the distinct impression that anywhere else BOG/LIM/UIO are not particularly bothered about finding it at their own stations. They'd rather just let SCL deal with it.

They have no idea where it is, no inclination to pair up stray bags with missing bag reports or generally be at all helpful.

Took me a good two weeks and a Chilean friend to go and sit in their office and refuse to leave until my bags were found. Then LAN lost it again once in BOG. They eventually left it in my garage whilst I was in the UK almost a month after originally losing it.

By contrast I got a stellar service recently from Avianca, my bag somehow went to Panama but turned up the next morning at my home. Well tracked, they could see where it was when I filled in the report and I got a call the next morning to tell me it was on the way.
