1) I always carry a pin with me, just in case it's needed during an emergency exit...

2) I (and family) were on the UD of a BA 747 a few years back (MIA-LHR) when the emergency masks dropped down and the emergency recording started playing - we were approaching LHR at the time. The recording played for around 15-20 seconds (but seemed much longer) before the crew came over the PA and said it was a mistake and we were not going to die (paraphrased). Looking back, and much to my dismay now, I didn't ask for any Avios in compensation.
