I would bet the statement on airlines losing $ on JFK involve airlines that fly ULH to JFK, like TG used to do. SQ has shut off their EWR-SIN route as well, for instance.

Running a hub out of JFK's a bit of a different animal- and I freely predict there's no way Doug Parker bought AA in order to trash AA's position in NYC. It would seriously **** off Willie Walsh over at BA, for starters, and you'd be handing NYC to DL.
