delayed, possibly lost luggage with lan
Hi, hoping to get some advice or suggestions as I've never had to deal with lost luggage.
Flew from Tampa to Buenos Aires with connections in Miami and saġ paulo. We traveled with two checked bags. One bag was lost and delivered the following day, while the other bag is still missing. It has been four days already. We filled a missing bag report at the airport the very same day we arrived. LAN has provided no updates, no contact..we've spent hours on the phone with lan to absolutely no avail. They won't escalate the calls, no supervisors, they deny having managers or anyone else for us to speak with. Mind you, I've had to speak Spanish with them..i'm fluent fortunately.., as most of their reps feign not speaking English even when you select the English option on the automated system.
The lost bag has my contact lenses and without them I'm largely confined to the hotel as my vision is very bad. I'm literally walking around half blind and worried about crossing intersections. In addition, much of our winter clothes and sports equipment and medicines were in that bag.
Lan have given us $100usd the day the bags were missing and that's it. The local lan sales office was of no help either. They like seemingly all the lan people just read you the policy and say there's nothing they can do.
The question is..can we do anything? Our entire trip here had largely been ruined because if the lost bag and my own safety feels compromised when I can't see 50 feet in front of me.
Suggestions, advice? Anything? We're beyond frustrated with lan and how unhelpful they have been.
