upgrade request date stamp vs purchase date?

My apologies if this has been asked and answered.

I purchased a tic (for travel 9/5) and requested an upgrade at time of purchase (7/31). Due to a glitch in the system I could not see my reservation on aa.com from 7/31 - 8/6. (I called aa.com and they confirmed that there was a glitch in my record and they were looking into having it fixed)

After the glitch was fixed (8/6) and I went on line to see my resv. I noticed that my requests for the upgrades were not in the record.

On 8/6 I called AA.... AA confirmed that i was not on the upgrade list and they did manually add me to the list. I was told my upgrade date stamp would be 8/6. I explained that I had requested the upgrade at the time of purchase. the agent went into the record and admitted that, in the history, it indicated that my upgrade request was indeed made on 7/31 (purchase date).....

I asked the agent ...could she change the date stamp on my upgrade request to 7/31... as it was BEFORE the glitch in my record was fixed. She said she could not (or did not know how to)... but she did put me on hold to ask someone else about the situation.

she came back on the line and said that the purchase date stamp would over ride the upgrade date stamp and that I should not worry.

I am not sure that this RINGS true.

Questions:
1) Can AA go into my record and change the upgrade date stamp to what is was (and admitted to have been)... at the time of purchase?

2) Is the agent correct.... at t-100 hours .... and the automated system starts to process upgrades....will the system "process" my upgrade request based on a date stamp of 7/31 (original purchase date) or 8/6 (the date that the request was manually entered by the agent)?

thanks to all with knowledge ......
