Prepaid cards like the ones in the Vanilla reload network are often the best option for people with bad credit because basic free checking accounts are not available to them. Same deal with secured credit cards vs. regular CCs. The associated fees are the price you pay for using an account that doesn't do a credit check.

Honestly, I think it's just laziness and stupidity that causes people to accept the story that they aren't eligible for normal, no-fee services, then roll over and pay the fees. I suppose I should be happy those people are out there tho: keeps the ecosystem running for me.....
