Victim (Dirk Bogarde & Sylvia Syms) and Priest (Linus Roache & Tom Wilkinson) are my favourites. Both focus on the non-acceptance of gay identity and relationship, one from legal + social standpoints (Victim) and the other from a religious standpoint (Priest).
The interesting thing is that both films reflect the British society, one in the 60s and the other in the 90s @:-)
Victim finally came up to the top of my Netflix queue (added based on a recommendation in this thread) and I agree it was very good. So awful to think that 60 years ago in a country we consider progressive like the UK homosexuality was illegal and punishable by jail time. I definitely recommend this movie.
