Pre-takeoff

Just before the boarding door, newspapers were available for grab. I entered the beautiful 777 (which was in KLM Asia livery BTW) and was greeted by the crew. Upon showing my BP I was directed to the left. Yay.

I walked to my aisle seat in row 3. On the seat there was already a blanket and pillow. A headset was in the seatback in front.

Cabin crew in Business class consisted of 2 females, each working one aisle. The FA serving my aisle was a friendly, middle aged woman.
After a few moments my seatmate arrived and the rest of the cabin also filled up. Loadfactor in J was more than 50% and I figure about 15 seats remained free and every single traveler had a free adjacent seat.
I expected the cabin to be full of middle aged businessmen in suits but that was not the case in slightest.

The FA’s then distributed the amenity kits and PDB on a tray. I chose champagne (should have been Billecart Salmon).

PDB Champagne

The amenity kit was Viktor&Rolf branded and featured socks, eyemask, lipbalm, tootbrush and –paste, earplugs and the most crappy pen I have ever seen. Not much and the quality also left a lot to be desired.

I was then approached by the agent I spoke to earlier, who was delivering the manifest to the flightdeck. She told me 3D and 3E were not occupied, and I was free to move there. How nice of her to follow up!

I browsed the Holland Herald until the doors closed and we taxied to the Kaagbaan IIRC. It was a shame I did not have a window seat as I love the powerful triple-7 engines and had not seen them in action from the front before.

After takeoff I took my belongings and settled in 3D for the rest of the flight. I started exploring the IFE when the purser made a round through the cabin, welcoming everyone aboard and making a small chat.

I decided on Skyfall and used the KLM provided noise-cancelling headphones, which did a fine job (I have no NC headphones myself so can’t compare them with anything).
