When I asked him why he would trade cash, which never expires and can be used *anywhere* for a cash equivalent that expires and can only be used in that mall, the confused answer was "well, it's a little classier, is all...."
That's the thing...many people think it is tacky to give cash as a present but gift cards are fine.

For people without a proper bank account and credit card there is some safely with using a VR instead of carrying around wads of cash. Most of the people I have worked with (back in HS when I worked in fast food) who didn't believe in banks probably wouldn't trust one of these either though.
