Most computer batteries are lithium-ion, and they are carried on all of the time.

One recommendation: When you go through security, pull the batteries out of your bag like you would a computer. I have carried batteries in the past, and when TSA saw them on the scanner, they opened the bag to get a look at them to make sure they were only batteries. They told me it was a good idea to pull them out in the future, and I have done that since with no problems.
