Depending on exactly where you could save megabucks and get Line 2 all the way to the airport. Takes about 50mins but costs RMB6!! All metal seats are a touch painful. My absolute prefered way of getting to PVG is the metro to Longyang Lu and then the Maglev. No traffic hassles, no scary taxi drivers and very reliable though having an office over a mtetro stations helps. Maglev station can be a bit steamy in summer though.
I took Line 2 all the way to the airport from the center in April. Cost about 8RMB ticket purchaseable from the machine IIRC. One gotcha had to change trains a few stops before the final airport stop. Not so bad as the train changed to was on same platform.
On the way in from the airport I took the maglev. It's fine but not vastly impressive. It also may not take you all the way. From the maglev you probably have to go on the normal metro lines to where you're going, or take a taxi... hassle with luggage. For me with 2 large pieces of luggage, the metro was actually easier with luggage than the maglev due to the need to change to another method of transport from the maglev to get to my hotel.
