I have had 2 poor experiences using the KUL "mafia" taxis.
One where I used a CC to pay for the trip into town, and my card was scammed 2 days later. This particular card was only used once in Malaysia for this trip and hadnt been used for a month or so before.
My second experience was the taxi I was in was in a heavy accident where it was raining and my driver couldnt stop and hit the car in front and was rammed by a truck from behind!
So, its KLIA for me every time unless I use a hotel car, again depending on time of day.
The quality and condition of the airport taxis "varies".
