Interesting. When I HCAUA and got a much more helpful agent who got most of my flights locked down (despite the first agent saying none of them were available), even the better agent said that any changes at all will result in a re-issue and thus need to be cancelled first (i.e. chance of losing some of your flights if they don't go back into available inventory immediately).
