Okay, now I admit I'm confused. I was under the impression that if you DELCARE something that ends up being restricted or prohibited, all that happens is the item is confiscated. No fine because you declared it properly. (Obviously, I'm not talking about illicit narcotics or whatever. Although I have heard about college kids 18-20 years old returning from Europe having their duty free alcohol seized by CBP because CBP must enforce state laws, and currently most areas* of U.S. states restrict alcohol to 21+.)



*I say "most" because the USA still has plenty of dry counties, where the sale and/or possession of alcohol is illegal. Take a look at the map--it's pretty surprising how widespread it still is!
