Can I book a room for a friend using my Anniversary Award?

Howdy folks,
I recently received my first "anniversary award/free night" for being a Hyatt card member. Can I transfer that award to a friend to use? I looked over the Terms and Conditions here (specifically the section under "Transferring Awards") and it seems like it should not be a problem. I emailed the Goldpass customer service and they responded with the following:

"Please note, the Chase Free Night Awards are non-transferable. However,
you may book a room for a friend or family member using your Hyatt Gold
Passport points."

However, doesn't the TandC in the above link say that I can book a room for my friend and I don't have to be there to check him in?

So, I contacted the hotel my friend wants to stay at and their rep said this:

"Mr. XXXX, you can go ahead and send me the information on the party that you would like to transfer your award/certificate card and I will make the reservation on their behalf. Upon check in they need to present this card to the front desk. Unless otherwise specified they would be responsible for any other charges."

I'm confused, how do I give my friend my credit card if he lives thousands of miles away...
