All other 737 variants (-800 and -900) do have limited legroom because of the close bulkhead (at least every single one I've been on which I think at this point is all variants). As a blanket rule I avoid row 1 at all costs even if it is the variant with the cut-out because the risk of the swap is present and without the cutouts that seat is uncomfortable even at 6'0'' so it would undoubtedly be worse at 6'3''

2) Yes 5a/5b have some limitation in their recline but I think the bigger issue is there is still a mid-lavatory on the non-E+ 739s so especially going to Hawaii I'd think you'd want to avoid that if possible.

3) Can't address this one. The only time I've been in any 737 exit row has been aisle, but I can say I never noticed any sort of protrusion, but don't take my word on this one b/c I have no direct experience
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately my only options at this point are 1A/E/F and 5A/B/E. I'm much more of a window guy, but it seems the best option here from a seat comfort point of view may be 5E (although you then still have the toilet right over your shoulder....).
