Changing flight to get a 'better' plane?

Hello all!

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to travel, so I've come seeking veteran advice! I Booked two award (mile redemption) tickets first class to Hawaii for September (Honeymoon, had to do FC!) and noticed that we're slated to be on a 767-300. There is one stop in Utah on the way out, and one in LA on the way back.

Being a fairly frequent flyer, I happened to be on a 767-300 from ATL to LA a couple of weeks ago....and, for lack of a more elegant phrasing...it is kind of a piece of junk. Maybe I have a skewed view of what trans-continental first class should be, but that wasn't it!

So, I'm wondering if it is possible and/or a good idea to try and change the flight to get a 'newer' plane...maybe one of those A-330's. That would make for a very special honeymoon flight for sure! Right now I'm gold, so I'd probably need to pay a redeposit fee, but that'd be OK. I'd also be open to getting a Reserve card if that'd help smooth this over.

The back-up plan is to just call Delta and see what I can do, but I wanted to pick the brains of the experts first.

Thanks so much for your time and wisdom!

I pledge to have my documents ready, my shoes & belt off, pockets empty and my 'stuff' together.
I pledge to board with my zone.
I pledge to get out of the aisle asap.
I pledge to deplane quickly and courteously.
I pledge to stand at least 10 feet from the baggage belt so others can access it when their luggage arrives.
