In another itinerary:

I also saw this notation when I was on a Delta connection flight with no FC. I was with a few diamonds and only two of us had the Y notation. I was in paid V economy, but upgraded to RU in the next leg from DTW-LAX. I didn't see the manifest on the second flight to LAX, however.
Interesting, eh?
