On a single PNR, 9W should be able to check the luggage through at least for the KE segments. Then, KE should definitely be able to check the luggage all the way through to either HNL or the final destination. (This is part of the reason it's nice that you actually see your luggage at the KE desk in BOM -- you can make sure they are actually doing it right.) As you probably know, they'll need to claim their luggage for US customs in HNL so it really doesn't matter whether the tag says HNL or the final destination.

BLR-BOM-ICN-HNL-OGG/KOA/LIH/ITO -- that's a heck of a trip! At least they'll be in a good place at the end of it. Actually, I'd worry more about the transfer in HNL -- they'll be exhausted from both the flights and (potential) long customs lines and you can end up walking a fairly long way there.
