Next time, ask for a "no-clapping" flight. It's similar to a special meal. It has to be ordered in advance.
If the airline doesn't show it on their website (a hand symbol with a line through it) you have to specifically request it with a live agent. If the agent doesn't know what you're talking about, you might have to get a supervisor.
