Airport security procedures are like snowflakes. No two are alike. Going from VIE-YYZ a couple of weeks ago I was screened twice in transit. The first was after landing from EVN and then rescreened at the gate. In transit at JNB one screening was sufficient for a flight to Europe but a full body pat down and a carry-on search were necessary for a flight to JFK.
