when i moved into my current house, dca had only prop planes, and the flight path ended about 2 miles past the end of the runway. the flight path is now 15 miles out. dca had a 10 pm firm curfew. it is now a 24 hr airport with a pretty big dump shortly after 12 midnite.
the new jet engines are much quieter than the prior generations, not from decree"you be quiet" but from engine design. the engines now move a lot more air at lower velocity than the older generation engines. much quieter engines.
I am in fact refering to people who currently build homes close to airports like FRA and then complain about airtraffic. It is people like them who moved there knowing full well where they were going but it was CHEAP!!! Once there they complain to no end and go to courts. Its these peopl ewho are the cause for the curfew at FRA for example or the fact that FRA PAYS for their soundproofing and air conditions AND they get a fee towards the energy they are going to use to run those aircons. All of this is obviously put on to the ticket pricing and I do not see that as fair since these people knew EXACTLY where they were moving or building homes
