why some airports require u go through security scan during transit but some don't ?
Just flew from XXX(European country) to YYY(non-European country) via MUC. After I landed MUC from XXX, I just needed to pass immigration counter in MUC to have my passport stamped and walk straight to my connecting flight (MUC to YYY) without needing to go through security scan again, and I found it very convenient. Some airports need you to go through security scan even though you are solely for transit. For example, NRT, DXB and HKG are the ones. I always wonder what's the point for the transiting passengers who have just landed to go through security scan again for the connecting flights while they are still on the airside? Is it possible for a transiting passenger to get something illegal during transit on the airside and bring it to the connecting flight? If so, what will it be? Don't you think it's unnecessary?
I'm not talking about the transit or transfer in the USA since it's totally a different story.
