I searched for the answer but I could not find it.

If someone can please tell me if I can receive UA miles for a US air flight. I flew US air today to Dallas and since they both are in the star alliance program, I was hoping to receive united miles instead of US air. If you can do this, how do I go about doing this? Thank you very much to all those that respond and help me with this situation. Truly appreciate it.
