Fair enough. But then at the time the Comet was flying I would guess that plane crashes were more common than they are now. If modern airliners crashed on a fairly routine basis I doubt the 787 problems would get as much attention.
There are similarities though; the Comet was a revolutionary design and it was the earliest aircraft in the series that had the major fault (metal fatigue). Eventually it was a good aircraft but that was too late save it from being a commercial failure. Step up the B707.
