Something similar happened to me at the Grosvenor House, had a credit card that would be expired during the stay and wanted them to charge the card ASAP prior the expiration date (it was a prepaid stay). I contacted the hotel and everything was done smoothly. I think you should've contacted the hotel, not customer service.
