787 has an advantage for UA: lower fuel burn, so they save money. It also opens new routes, like DEN-NRT, which BTW may be an option as well @:-)

And many have complained about less seat width on 787 v. 777: after all, they both have 3-3-3 seating, but 777 is significantly wider. Of course the new trend may be going to 747 like seating on 777 like AA's new 777-300

I've done my one and only 787 on EWR-IAH and loved the flight, BUT I had the only open seat on the plane next to me (well the guy in the aisle seat also had an open seat next to him), so I am not intimately familiar with "rubbing of shoulders" that has been described in several threads/posts.

One other thing to consider if you are flying to TPAC destination the night before is SEA. They are going to a 787 on this route in the future, so methinks loads in Y will be lighter for now, hint, hint.
