40 minute connection time in HEL ok?
There was a useful thread on this about a year ago, but I'm posting about this again just in case anything has changed and because I have a couple of additional questions:
I might fly JFK-HEL-BUD on Finnair in October, probably on a Monday. I would be in J with only carry-on luggage. The connection time is 40 minutes: arriving HEL 8:50 a.m. and departing 9:30 a.m. Assuming there are no glitches, I realize I should make it. But a few questions:
1. Do people have much experience with delays or glitches on the JFK-HEL flight? I know that JFK can get backed up late afternoon, but my only experience with problems has been with domestic rather than international flights?
2. There do not seem to be great options for getting to BUD until the evening if the HEL-BUD flight connection doesn't work or if the flight is canceled. But just in case, how is Finnair for putting people on other airlines' flights if they will get in earlier, as opposed to its own later flight?
2. JFK-HEL is on an A330. Is that likely to be the old 2-2-2 angled flat J, the new 2-2-1 lie flat J, or impossible to predict?
Thanks for any help!
