I ended up staying at the Hilton because I had arranged tours with pick ups and they would not pick me up from that area. That being said, I could have easily taken a taxi to the waterfront and had them pick me up there instead.
I agree that is you have a car this location would be ok. I guess it depends on what you plan on doing while in Cape Town
