The host hotels in Toronto are the Ritz Carlton ($310 / night) and the Marriott Downtown Eaton's Centre ($216 / night). We has hoped to be able to provide a cheaper hotel option, through one of the Courtyards, but it just wasn't working from a logistics perspective. The hotel hotel in San Francisco is the Airport Marriott Waterfront ($139 / night). You don't need to stay here to earn the status, but it'll be where all the after-parties are, so it's probably a good idea. I can tell you I'll be there.

Marriott Promo isn't starting July 20. To start, no, I'm not happy with that either, but it is what it is. The promo is still the best MegaDo promo ever (it hasn't changed), but we just couldn't get all the paperwork done in time to get it rolling by the 20th. We will announce a new start date in the near future.Sorry about that. 2 nights in Toronto, on the group rate, are required to get the Platinum status.
