Check in agents are humans after all and they do make the occasional mistake. What is on your copy of the luggage check in receipt ?? If it said that the bag is checked in to DXB then you have a reason to blame EK.
I handed the luggage tag to the ground staff at Dubai who wanted it to retrieve the bag so no longer have it. I did not check the tag itself but relied on the conversation which did confirm the bag was going to Dubai. Now I know better.
I also do not have a receipt for the 200 Dihrams. It was a late hour, I'd not rested well on the flight and was just focused on sleep and the meeting ahead. Potentially lacking proper business attire just added to the stress. Does anyone know if this is a standard or really legitimate charge Emirates levy for delivering misdirected luggage to hotels?
I'm not so much concerned about the sum of money. It's just the ground staff on departure were less than competent. The staff at the Dubai end were somewhat unhelpful up to the point I pay for a solution, then oddly helpful, and Emirates staff, in writing, seem to provide incorrect information contrary to practical experience.
According to Emirates rules stopover is "not allowed" and "it is not possible to check-in the passenger to the final destination and the baggage just to Dubai as the check-in system will not allow this." This may not be the forum, but have others reliably done a sub 24 hour stopover in Dubai, exited the airport with checked bags and continued on with other airlines hassle free?
If not, the next best alternative is to travel with the suit out of its bag plus an overnight bag and hopefully not break any rules! I will need to make the same trip again. Thanks.
