Mileage Plus Vs Aeroplan

Hello,

This is my first time posting but I've been lurking for a while.

I'm trying to book a flight from Toronto to Geneva. When I looked on Aeroplan I was able to find the flights in business for 2 people at 180k points + 1900 in taxes and fees. I then decided to see under United and found the same flights (operated by Air Canada) for 200k points and $148.80 in fees! I could not believe the difference in the fees and taxes even though the flights are both with Air Canada.

I guess my questions are:
(1) Can I transfer my Aeroplan points to United to book this?
(2) How can Aeroplan be charging so much more for those flights?
(3) Are people switching to earning their points with United instead of Aeroplan because of this?

I'm beyond dumbfounded. I am considering switching to earning my points to Mileage plus but I already have 300k plus in Aeroplan (some with Amex points) and I do fly a lot with Air Canada (I am a super elite).

I'm open to any suggestions or comments as I can't beleive Air Canada is charging more fees to Aeroplan than MileagePlus. I always thought that just the Air Canada flights were more expensive with the fuel surcharge than other airlines but not that under other programs you could get Air Canada flights for cheaper!

For reference the dates I was looking under was Feb 14th to Feb 22nd.

Thanks
