At 2" thick, I doubt it would be counted as a carry on. I flew back from Algiers once hand carrying two ceramic tile pictures wrapped and placed together in a large plastic bag plus my carry on. I flew Lufthansa, United, and American to get home; no one batted an eyelash and on all three the FA put my pictures on the floor of the front closet. The only hard part was schlepping the pictures through the airports.
