Not in hotel industry. Hilton is the only one that grants status for spending but they also give to tier away for credit card spend and in general HH diamond is pretty weak (certainly much worse that top tiers at Hyatt, SPG or IC).
I was referring to the recent moves in the travel industry (airlines), that I believe will bleed over into all the segments over time. Notice I said "trend." Also, there are levels within diamond based on spend.
