Could use input from the experts on this very topic.
Have short trip (23 hour layover) to HK coming up in a few weeks and trying to maximize usable time there. Landing around 7pm; hope to be out of airport no later than 8pm to meet friends at Sheraton HK.
At that time of day (~8pm on a Friday), would you recommend
- AE + taxi or
- direct taxi from HKG?
Given short trip, minimizing total commute time is more important than total fare.

From memory, the traffic on the Island will not be too good on a mid Sunday afternoon, and the taxi has to make a large circuit to get up the Shangri-La. Or have I got that wrong ?
