I have driven in most states in Australia. IME NSW and VIC are the strictest and have lots of fixed and mobile cameras. TAS used to be relatively camera free but now even there I have noticed a proliferation of cameras. The only way to avoid these hefty fines is to be very vigilant, use cruise control if you have it and allow your back seat driver to warn you when you are going to fast.
